Scholarships for non-European scholars (academics)
The MSc European Forestry accepts applications from non-European scholars for carrying out research and teaching assignments and scholarly work for the MSc European Forestry Erasmus Mundus course at the MSc EF Partner Universities during a period of three months.
The scholarship for a three month stay amounts for EUR 13,000; this amount comprises a monthly grant of EUR 4,000 and a fixed amount of EUR 1,000 for travel expenses. Scholars have to provide their own insurance cover.
Non-European scholars are defined as coming from other countries except the 27 EU Member States, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Croatia, Turkey and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
In addition to their main host MSc EF university, selected scholars are expected to visit during their stay at least a second MSc EF partner university.
The application for non-European scholars consists on:
- An electronic application, to be submitted electronically (the electronic form will be available from this page when the call for applications is open).
- A printed version of the electronic application, to be submitted by post (hard copy) together with the applicant's CV (as paper documents).
Bear in mind that applications submitted ONLY electronically are NOT valid ; you must also submit the paper version of your application by post.

Information to applicants
The selection is based on the assessment of two criteria: the scholar's academic merits and the scholar's plan of activities (emphasis is given on how the scholar's work would benefit the MSc European Forestry course). The scholarships are awarded to the best scholars on a competitive basis.
The University of Joensuu will inform all applicants on the results of the selection process by email, tentatively by mid March. Thus, email will be sent to those scholars that are preliminary selected, those who form the reserve list, and also those applicants that are not selected. However, it is EU's Executive Agency who has the final decision on awarding the Erasmus Mundus scholarships; such decision is made by the end of March and forwarded to the selected scholars. |
