Studies
The MSc European Forestry degree requires 120 ECTS
credits in elective and obligatory studies at different MSc EF Partner Universities, to be completed in 2 years.
During the first year of the programme, the students are due to attend most of the common courses of the MSc EF, which are organized by the different partner universities. In addition, during the first year the students are required to carry out the Applied Period (practical training) at an international forest organization or company. Thus, the first year provides the students with a very complete background in European forestry, at the same time familiarizes them with the 6 partner universities and with other forest institutions.
The studies of the first academic year consist on the following courses:

- Applied Period in Forest Institutions (12 ETCS) in different European countries
- Communication Skills (3 ECTS) in Finland

- Problem Oriented Course: Global Challenges in Local Context (4 ECTS) in Finland
- A block of other obligatory and elective courses (12 ECTS) in Finland
- European Forestry Field Course (8 ECTS) in Spain, France, Germany and The Netherlands
- Multifunctional Forestry in Mountain Regions (4 ECTS) in Austria
During the second year, the students have the chance to specialize in their field of interest by taking Obligatory and Elective Courses and carrying out the Master's Thesis at the 6 partner universities.
- Obligatory and Elective Courses at MSc EF Partner Universities (30-36 ECTS)
- Master's Thesis (30-40 ECTS)
- Thesis Seminar (online presentation of the Thesis)
Details on each of these courses are available through the links on the left side of this webpage. The students, after completing the 2-year Master Course, will obtain the MSc in European Forestry degree, which is officially recognised by at least 2 of the organizing universities (double degree), and a diploma supplement describing the contents of the
