Willow plantations are used in waste management, landscaping and establishing green areas in towns. Willow is a plant that consumes a lot of water, grows rapidly and tolerates and stores heavy metals. Because of those properties it is used as a so called vegetation filter purifying areas already afflicted with high heavy metal content, waste waters, sludge and seepages.
